AlomWare 64

Seeing that the Commodore 64 (C64 for short) was released way back in August 1982, chances are that you didn’t get to use one. I know I didn’t, because I was born in April 1983 and by the time I started using a PC, the C64 was already old news. But let’s not get distracted. Getting back to the C64, its startup screen (see here) served as inspiration for Alomware 64, a tool that presents your PC’s stats as a C64-like live wallpaper. So if you want to give your PC a little C64 touch, then by all means go and give AlomWare 64 a try.

AlomWare 64 is available as an installer an as a portable version. You can use this application on a computer that runs Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, windows 8 or 8.1, or Windows 10. Please note that AlomWare 64 is free to use for a trial period of 14 days.

Launch AlomWare 64 and it will put a purple wallpaper on your screen, wallpaper that presents your OS version, information about your processor, the current time, and other stats. From AlomWare 64’s tray icon, you can switch from purple to grayscale or green. And if you don’t want to see your PC’s stats, you can get AlomWare 64 to display a maze pattern, some random dots, and more.

In the first paragraph, I mentioned the main thing that AlomWare 64 can do: preset your PC’s stats as a C64-like live wallpaper. The thing is that AlomWare 64 can do one more thing: it can launch applications and/or open files. To access this extra bit of functionality, you must use the "Add floppy" function.
